Fundamentals of Nursing Course

Learning Objectives
1. The student will be able to recognize cultural needs in
different patient populations and be able to arrange their
nursing care around these needs.
2. The student will be able to identify and illustrate the specific
parts of the nursing process to assess, diagnose, intervene
and evaluate care of the patient.
3. The student will be able to demonstrate safe and holistic
delivery of care using physical and conceptual skills learned
in this course.
4. The student will be able to compare effective styles of
therapeutic communication and be able to analyze a
situation in order to use the most effective communication
strategy.
5. The student will develop critical thinking skills and be able to
generate care of the patient utilizing these skills in addition
to evidence-based practice.
6. The student will summarize their learning and experiences
throughout the semester in a reflective journal.
