Changing Pattern of Grazing Land in Kuralthemli Village of
Chhattisgarh

The main objective of the study is:

To study the reason for decrease in cattle population.


To study the socio - economic effect of reduction in cattle population
due to lack of grazing land.

Logic (theory)

The logic was, due to the lack of grazing land the cattle population mainly
cows has been decreased over a decade in that tribal village.

Research philosophy

After interaction with some of the villagers the common statement about
decreasing number of cattle population started coming due to the lack of
grazing land. A well structured questionnaire about number of cattle that
each household have 10 years before and now respectively was revealed
the evidence behind the research. It is more a kind of interpretivism
research philosophy following inductive logics

Research approach

The research approach was started with some observation and data so its
a kind of inductive research approach.

Research design

The purpose of the research is to explain the cause and there effects of
grazing land on the number of cattle in this tribal village.

Therefore it is kind of explanatory research where mainly why and how


type of questions used to ask.

Data collection method

Qualitative methods of data collection and analysis used for this research
as follows:

1. Interview
Personal Interview with forest officials
Personal interview with local NGO co-ordinator
Personal interview with some shepherds in the village
2. Focused group discussion with the villagers having cattle
3. Questionnaire

Sampling methods

Non probability sampling method


Snowball sampling: - This sampling method involves
primary data sources nominating another potential primary
data sources to be used in the research. To know the
households who have the cattle 10 years before, have not in
current we went through referrals from initial to so many for
sampling the data.
