Air Asia to Operate Denpasar-Darwin
AirAsia to Fly from Bali to
airlines
Darwin in October 2010.
The Indonesia arm of
AirAisa (IAA) have announced
their intention to operate direct
flights between Denpasar and
Darwin commencing October
2010. The service connecting Bali
to Australia's northwest will take
up routes recently abandoned by
the Indonesian national flag
carrier Garuda Indonesia.
As reported in Bisnis.com,
the President Director of IAA,
Dharmadi, said the new service
would operate four times a week
using Airbus A320 aircraft with a
capacity of 180 passengers.

route can be flown in
just 2 hours, well
within the 5 hour flight
range of the A 320.
Final approval to
permit flight
operations over the
new route, now rests with civil
aviation authorities in Jakarta and
Canberra. IAA currently operates
flights to Australia on the
Denpasar-Perth, Western
Australia route.
If approved, operations by
IAA between Bali and Darwin will
place the Indonesia airline in
direct competition with JetStar
Australia who also operate this
route using A320 equipment.

Ok, the following is a
terrible issue I, and probably most
of us, have been watching unfold
over the last almost 3 months in the
Gulf of Mexico. You guessed it the
BP rig disaster. I've heard that
almost a million barrels of crude oil
per day has been venting into the
ocean for 87 days and has now,
“thankfully” been capped. I guess to
imagine the quantity of oil is a little
beyond my capacity to picture, but,
based on the price per barrel, which
makes the loss to the oil company
around $6,649,410,000 at today's
prices. That's more money than
many of us will ever see in 2000
family generations of income, and
should serve to give some sort of
scale as to what I would say is the
world's worst environmental
mishap. I remember my thoughts
about twenty years ago when the
world saw the Exxon Valdez spill its
guts into the ocean, after running
aground in Prince William Sound in
Alaska. How terrible was it to see
the pictures of sea birds that where
suffocating after being completely
covered in oil. Terrible. Thousands
judged as having "average"
physical attractiveness.
The pair then compared

Man swallows snake for

$2 bet in India
AN Indian man cheated death after a
swallowing a highly poisonous snake
for a bet worth just a couple of dollars.
Zaver Rathod, 35, killed the reptile by
hurling stones at it after it bit one of his friends in
Surat, in the eastern state of Gujurat, The Times
of India reported today.
Egged on by his companions, the farm
labourer then consumed the entire snake raw
for a 100 Rupee bet ($2.42).
However, he soon fell violently ill and
was rushed to the hospital yesterday with
severe nausea and vomiting.
Doctors managed to remove the
contents of his stomach before the snake's
venom could enter his blood stream, which
would almost certainly have proved fatal.
Mr Rathod fled today to escape the glare
of the Indian media, as reporters descended on
the hospital to interview him.

Richmond have failed in

review panel to go easy on
midfielder Trent Cotchin, who
faces a hefty suspension for
charging.
Cotchin on Monday was

for crashing into the back of North
Melbourne's Sam Wright at the
MCG on Sunday, which left the

The panel ruled Cotchin
was reckless and made high
contact of high impact, but he can
reduce the penalty to three games

panel would judge Cotchin's

The grocery giant has
priced the "home-brand-style"
packs of 25 cigarettes at around
$11 almost $4 a pack less than
Australian-made Winfield and
other leading brands.
They are believed to be
the cheapest on the market since
the federal Government raised
cigarette taxes by 25 per cent in
April.
The cigarettes are
labelled "Made for Australia".
Only in smaller letters on the side
of the packs does it reveal "Made
in Germany".
The packs carry
unfamiliar names such as
Bayside, Deal, Harvest and
Tradition and are being promoted
