A. Theoretical Introduction
Philosophy of the Classroom

An educator or teacher is a profession that should not be taken lightly. Teaching is vital

to the development of an individual. It is filled with challenges, frustrations, and responsibilities.

However, it is also filled with excitement, joy, and love. Every day is a new day in the classroom,

and it takes compassion, organization, discipline, and hard work to maintain a successful one.

There are no two teachers that are alike. Each teacher brings their own unique way of teaching

that is displayed and executed in the classroom. My ultimate goal is to provide a safe and

meaningful learning environment that invite students to a positive and loving classroom.

I want to create a classroom where my students can walk into where they feel safe and

have respect for one another. Student will practice the golden rule of loving one another by

showing their respect. Not only would they respect their fellow classmates, but also everyone

that steps foot into the classroom. It is a place where everyone is treated like family and no one

will feel left out. Also, a safe haven to share thoughts and feelings with one another (Bucher and

Manning, 2010). It important that students are physically, emotionally, and socially safe in class

or else their defense mechanism will rise and learning will decrease tremendously.

I would not want a barrier that will cause any of my students to shut down all together. It

is key for students, parents, and school staff to share a harmonious relationship to be of service to

on another in the school community. Having a student shut down or give up is never something I

would like to witness in my lifetime, especially when it could be avoided. I will keep myself

readily available to provide the necessary resources for my students and be the light for them.

As I build a strong foundation with a safe learning environment, I could create a

meaningful classroom where students are able to make good progress and achieve their full

potential. I strongly believe that all children are capable of learning. As a teacher I must keep in

mind that all students learn in different levels and become aware of all the learning styles of my

students. Differentiated instruction and accommodations must be taken into consideration when

creating lessons and setting classroom management (Robb, 2017).

Assumptions: the Nature of Young People and Learning

All students come from different family backgrounds. Some may have both parents

present, while others either only has one parent, grandparents, or guardian who care for them. No

matter what background they may be, each student is capable to learn. They are entitled to be

served and taught in a matter that could meet their academic needs. It is my job as a teacher to

reach out to all of my students and ensure I meet all of their needs.

A. Expectations/Policies/Rules/Boundaries

Classroom expectations are key to a successful class. Right from the first day of school,

rules and expectations will be discussed and practiced. These expectations are easily seen by

students and consequences are put into place. If ever there is a need to remind or correct a

students behavior, I plan to provide students the opportunity to have a fresh start just like

everyone else. I understand that everyone can have a bad day due to uncontrollable situations

that may occur.

Students are taught with structure and direct instruction. Through this practice, they will

understand that I am the leader and adult in the classroom that will guide them to success.

Students will be given the chance to learn how to facilitate their own learning while being able to

express themselves and use their creativity. There will be plenty of activities and projects to

make their own choices that will fit their personalities and learning styles. Once they have

learned the process and routine, they will be able to facilitate on their own and have the chance

to work cooperatively. Learning together promotes positive and healthy relationships among

students (Johnson, 1994).

Vision

All students from all sorts of backgrounds are entitled to be given the opportunity to learn

and teachers are the source of their academic success. Effective teachers are the ticket into their

future. With a harmonious, supportive, and safe classroom, each student can perform to their full

potential. Then all of the strategies and practices will follow as a tool to help teachers provide an

engaging and motivating classroom that keeps students wanting to learn even more.
