BACKGROUNDER

The Gods Child Project was created in 1991 in response to the civil war in Guatemala

and the raising number of orphans that roamed the streets. Bismarck native Patrick Atkinson

took charge and went to Guatemala to begin creating orphanages and homes for those who were

alone and needed help. What began as a passion for service, blossomed into a very successful

nonprofit organization 25 years later.

With the mission, We, The Gods Child Community, are benefactors, friends, volunteers,

and children joined together to assist Gods poorest children in their educational, social,

physical, and spiritual growth. We view education as a practical way to help poor children

escape from an otherwise painful life. We, The Adults, accept our youth as gifts from God given

to be our teachers, students, and children. We believe in the need to stand by their side until they

are prepared to meet life and triumph in the eyes of God, their community, and themselves. We,

the children, are the pride and reason why The Gods Child Project exists. We have the

responsibility to behave honorably and to respect legitimate national, spiritual, and

environmental law. We recognize the opportunities and help we have received from others, and

will try each day to help someone with a need greater than our own. The Gods Child Project

strives to reach as many people in need as possible through many different relief efforts and

across many countries. The Gods Child Project helps orphans, single mothers, and those in sex

trafficking to find better lives through donations and many other missions.
The Gods Child Project works closely with their team of volunteers because of the small

staff that is employed. Through their volunteers, they are able to network and host more events

which ties in their donors. The donors help to make the project reach their dreams and goals, or

at least make them more attainable.

FACT SHEET

denominational and strives to reach children and families in intense poverty.

Gods Child Projects Institute for Trafficked, Exploited, and Missing Persons (ITEMP)
prevents and rescues victims from human trafficking.

Reaching all across the world, Gods Child Project is largely involved in Guatemala, El
Salvador, India, Malawi, and the United States, but encompasses areas between all these
countries.

The Gods Child Project strives to provide education, healthcare, family care, emergency
disaster relief, and human rights to all ages in third world countries. Through these
actions they strive to get children into orphanages, girls and women out of sex trafficking,
and help families to be better able to provide.

The organization is very close to their donors and volunteers because of the help and
funding they provide. The Gods Child Project is a small team; through volunteers they
are able to encompass more events in a quicker and more efficient time span.

This organization holds many events throughout the year to bring together their donors
and supporters. Their largest event is the Dream Maker Ball in which hosts a live auction,
silent auction, live music, and horse race.

The Gods Child Project has a donation sector known as Wishlist. This is a donor based
program that identifies where gifts are needed for people in each country. Donors can
give a varying amount it a certain campaign examples would be a cow, water, or
construction materials although this list only covers a few of the items on Wishlist.

The Gods Child Project also sells products of Guatemala that are made by the children
and women. These products raise money for housing and school supplies in Guatemala.

A COMMUNITY OF DREAMERS, FOR GODS CHILDREN

God Child Project Annual Gala Event

BISMARCK, ND On Friday, October 21, 2016, at 6p.m., The Gods Child Project will hold

its annual Dream Makers Ball at the Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck, ND. Celebrating 25 years of

helping children dream for their futures, the ball is the Projects primary fundraising event of the

year. The event will be complete with a social hour, elegant dinner, silent auction, legendary

horse race (designed by local artists), live auction, dancing with the Joe Friday Band and an

elaborate hat competition. Prominent speakers will present during dinner to provide an

inspirational look inside the work of The GODS CHILD Project.

This event creates the opportunity for Gods Child Project to teach the community about

the poverty and hurt that is overcoming third world countries, and showing guests the many ways

they can help while also having a good time. We hope the community can come out for a fun

night while showing support for the cause we are striving to better every day, says assistant

-more-
director, Heather McFall. The Gods Child Project staff has put a copious amount of time into

this event and hope to make this the most attended year the Dream Makers Ball has had.
