elation between the Dunhuang manuscript Erlangwei and Zoroastrianism

Abstract There are three kinds of Erlangwei in Dunhuang Manuscriptsof which all are good wi-
shes. Erlangweimeans literally valiant youth in Chineseis a name of the tunes. Its meaningformat of
writing and context of usage have nothing to do with the medieval Persian word nrang. In a Erlangwei of
exorcising was recorded " Great Xian of Ann Town" which suggests that this great Xian of Ann Town
was a deity of an exorcising team and that Zoroastrianism was melted into local folk belief in Dunhuang.

Abstract Ai Xuethe first director of Chongfu Office for Christianity administration of the Yuan
Dynastywas closely related to its establishment. From changes of his political position around the 24 th
year of Zhiyuan reign 1287 when he returned from Persia and his position was becoming important
this paper discussed his interconnection with Yuan Dynasty's Guanhui Office and Huihui Astronomical
Observatory and owed it to his advices that the Chongfu Office was established. Still morewhether Ai
Xue was a clergy or not was also examined.
