students from St. Georges Tech High Schools Hawks SOARS Program, have been exclusively invited to participate in the Educational Standards alternative spring break program (S.A.T. Preparation Study Abroad Program).
Hawks SOARS students were elected to participate
in the Educational Standards Global Academy S.A.T. Prep Edition. Christopher Bell has been selected as a mentor/tutor of academic profile and demonstrated ability to excel in; writing, group dynamics, and the organizations rigorous training program.
The Global Academy- S.A.T. PREP Edition will begin
in Dubai and Abu Dhabi on 12/01/2016 and go through until 12/10/2016. After a five-day cultural immersion in Dubai the scholars will travel to Abu Dhabi for 3 days.
The Global Academy SAT Prep Edition will engage all
participants in learning about the two different world cultures including; architecture, language, norms, and educational systems and how living in moderate Islamic country impacts daily customs. Upon completion of the program students will achieve at least one of the following outcomes, and be able to:
1. Demonstrate awareness of own cultural values
and biases and how these impact their ability to work with others. 2. Demonstrate knowledge of diversity with a focus on the population or topic of interest in the specific Study Abroad program. 3. Communicate appropriately and effectively with diverse individuals and groups. 4. Demonstrate an increased capacity to analyze issues with appreciation for disparate viewpoints. 5. S.A.T. PREP TRAINING including foundational contents and testing strategies and tips for the New S.A.T.
All students in the study abroad program will maintain
a daily journal of their reflected experiences highlighting learned opportunities, cultural congruence or cultural mismatch, and educational partnerships. In addition, by the end of the program students will create and facilitate a visual presentation of their experience abroad.
