Children will be sitting at a table with a smartboard.

Instructional Procedures:

Day 1:

First 20 minutes: Introductory activity- Students will be using their smartboard to do counting
games, and recognizing different numbers.
45 minutes: I will talk to children about adding number and working some problems out with
them on my laptop so they will be able to look at the projector. As children begin to get more
familiar with the concept of adding numbers together I will introduce the vocabular words such
as adding, plus, addition, and I will show them the symbol for addition. Once we are done
working on a few problems together, and vocabulary words have been introduced children will
then begin to work on adding problems on their smartboards. While children are solving
problems, I will be helping children that may be struggling with the concept or having problems
with using the smartboard. This could take up to 60 minutes.

Day 2:
During day 2 we will be working on subtracting numbers under 8. I will introduce vocabulary
words; subtracting, take away, and minus. I will show children the symbol for subtraction on the
projector just like I did for addition. I will then tell the children that we are going to work on some
problems together on the projector, then I will let them us their smartboards to work on problems
alone. I will help struggling children as needed.

This is a site that children can use to find numbers. It is called hind and seek. They must find the
number, then the spelling of the number, and the number of objects that is associated with that
number and place it in a category.

Differentiated Instructional Support: Children who are gifted or accelerated I could increase
the numbers they are adding to 15 or 20 instead of having them add numbers to 10.
Discuss additional activities you could do to meet the needs of students who might be struggling
with the material:
Additional activities that I could do to meet the needs of students who might be struggling is only
add number to 5 instead of going to 8 until they get the concept of adding larger numbers.

Vocabulary: Adding, addition, plus, subtractions, minus, take away, plus

For teachers The materials that I would like to use a projector that is connected to a laptop and
work the problems out with the students as they are doing them.
