OBSERVATIONAL FIELD NOTES: DIAGRAM OF CLASSROOM SETUP

RELFECTION:

Above is the diagram of the classroom I observed during my two weeks of clinicals. The

classroom was in an older building and relatively small, however, space was utilized very well.

My teacher used all parts of the classroom. She would often take an IPad to direct slides and

whatever else material was presented on the TV. The whiteboard was mostly used to hang

anchor charts, classroom rules, etc. There wasnt a lot of structure when it came to the students

desk. The only structure I observed with the lining of the desk was that they were all faced the

same way, with students separated based on how well they worked with others. Students who

had trouble focusing were placed closer to the front of the classroom, as well as the teacher. I

loved that my teacher had a wall dedicated to books for students, as well as many work areas for

small groups. If I could change a few things, it would probably be that desk were in small groups

themselves, or some type of structured arrangement. I would also add more decorative posters,

student work, etc. to walls.
