Scientific Method
Within the scientific method unit, the students will enhance their knowledge of the different
components used to answer specific scientific questions. This includes: formulating a hypothesis,
identifying the dependent variable, independent variable, control, inferences and observations, the
metric system, conversion, and graphing.
Unit 1:
Interactions of Life
This unit is one of the longest units for the school year. It is divided into two parts.
1A- Ecology: Living things within an ecosystem interact with each other and their environment.
1B- Energy Transfer: Matter and energy together support life within an ecosystem
The information in units 1 & 2 comprise of 50% of the Georgia Milestone questions.

Unit 2:
Biomes
Unit 2 will cover Earths major biomes and the characteristics that make them unique.

Evolution
In this unit students will study how and why living things change over time.
The information in units 3 & 6 comprise 15% of the Georgia Milestone questions.

Genetics
In unit 5 students will study how biological traits are passed on to successive generations.
The information in units 4 & 5 comprise 35% of the Georgia Milestone questions.

Classification
In this unit students will study how living things are scientifically compared and classified.
The information in units 3 & 6 comprise 15% of the Georgia Milestone questions.
