ITEC315 Assistive Technology App Plan

App Name: Dyslexia Games

App Purpose: This app is designed for students age 5-8 with dyslexia. The games are designed to
develop fine motor skills, letter recognition, and improve visual memory.

Audience: students aged 5-8 with dyslexia

Serving Special Needs: Helping people with dyslexia

Detailed Description
I would like to build an app designed to help students with dyslexia develop their fine motor skills,
letter recognition, and improve their visual memory. I would call my app RECOGNITION Games.
RECOGNITION Games is an app designed for dyslexic children between the ages of 5-8. The app
has a series of games each focusing on a different skill. The brightly colored games are designed to
stimulate and engage the user.

Game 1: Coloring Mystery


Coloring mystery is a game designed to improve visual recognition and fine motor skills. The object
of this game is to complete the drawing by filing in the missing information. Users are given an
incomplete drawing and are asked to fill in the missing lines The game has a split screen that show
two images. The first image is a complete line drawing. The second image is an incomplete line
drawing. The user drags his finger across the image to fill in the missing lines. When the image is
complete the user gets an award star and progresses to next level.

Game 2: Pattern Train


Pattern Blocks is a game designed to improve pattern recognition. The object of this game is for
users to get the train to the end of the track. The train cars have patterns on them. The train stops
when the car doesn't have a pattern. The user must select the correct pattern from a list in order to
make the train progress down the track. The user progresses to next level after corectly selecting 10
patterns.

Game 3: No Dice!
No Dice is a game designed to improve number recognition. The object of this game is to identify the
number on the dice as quickly as possible. Users earn points by correctly identifying numbers on a
die. The more numbers they identify, the more points they get. The user wins when they get to 20
points.

Game 4: Letter Zap


Letter Zap is a game designed to improve fine motor skills and improve letter recognition. The object
of this game is to zap matching letter combination in order to earn points. The user gets points for
selecting the correct combination. The user wins when they get to 20 points.
