5 Year Plan

The next five years of my life will be a pivotal time in my life. This time span will not

only include my college experience, but this will also be the time I begin exploring the first few

years of my career. My first year, I will be attending California Polytechnic University San Luis

Obispo. This year, I will be living in the dorms, hopefully either The Towers or Yosemite Hall.

I will be majoring in Biological Sciences and will be taking mainly General Education courses.

However, I will start in Calculus II since I took AP Calculus AB in high school. I will also be

exempt from a government class and English class since I took AP government and AP English

Language Composition. This year I will also be on the dining plan and this will cover the total

dining expenses while living on campus.

The summer after my freshman year at Cal Poly, I will return home and work during the

summer. This will give me time to save up money and take transferrable credits at Merced

Community College. The following fall of 2018, I will return to Cal Poly as a sophomore and

will finish my general education classes and begin taking upper division classes. This will be the

time for me to decide whether or not to change majors to Biomedical Engineering. At this time, I

will be living in an apartment off campus with friends. This will also be much less costly since I

do not need to pay for the dining plan at Cal Poly and I can prepare my own food at home. The

apartment will also be much less expensive than the dorms.

The summer after my sophomore year at Cal Poly, I will continue living in my apartment

and begin an internship and/or summer job in the San Luis Obispo area. I want to get an

internship related to the medical field or a physical therapy related internship/job. The following

fall of 2019, I will continue my education in Cal Poly as a Junior, taking the majority of my

upper division courses. By my third year, I will hopefully complete or nearly complete all of the

credits required for graduation. If not, I will take an additional summer semester to finish my

credits and graduate with a Bachelors Degree of Science in Biomedical Engineering and a

concentration emphasis in physiology and anatomy pre-med at the age of 20. Immediately after

graduation, I will take the MCAT exam in order to prepare for medical school.

Before I graduate from Cal Poly, I will develop connections with possible employers and

I will get a job with a biomedical engineering research company doing research on medicinal

plants and developing medicine from natural sources. I will be working for this company for

approximately a year (Fall 2020 - Winter 2021) gaining experience in the research field and

preparing for medical school. Before terminating my job with this research company, I will apply

to Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona and I will begin medical

school in the Spring term of 2022. I will live in an apartment in the city of Tempe, Arizona and

graduate with an ND as a naturopathic doctor in 2026.
