PRAXIS CORE ANALYSIS 2

Praxis Core Analysis

All future elementary educators have to prepare for the Praxis Core Exam, involving

math, reading, and writing. I was one of these future educators who prepared for my first try, but

I did not study as much as I should have. I will first explain the exam requirements and The

UNLV education program requirements. Then I will explain my test results, how I prepared for

the exam, and how I will prepare in the future.

I am planning to transfer to UNLV once I get my associate degree at CSN. Before I can

take any education courses at UNLV, to get my bachelor degree, I must pass the Praxis Core

Exam. In Nevada, the passing score for this exam is 156 for reading, 162 for writing, and 150 for

math.

Before I took the Praxis Core Exam, I requested study guides from the public library. I

read over some of it and did some of the practice tests for math, writing, and reading. I also used

EdReady for math. These were the two ways I prepared for the exam. After I took the Praxis

Core Exam, I found out that I only passed reading, with a score of 172, but did not passed math

and writing. My math score was 116 and my writing score was 130. Additionally, I took a free

online practice test with a link that my professor provided for reading, math, and writing. I only

needed to take the math and writing practice test. This math score was in the 43% range, which

meant I needed improvement in the math section for The Praxis Exam. The writing score for this

practice test was in the 65% range, which meant I needed improvement in the writing section for

The Praxis Exam. The practice test showed that I need to greatly improve my math and writing

skills before I take these sections again in the Praxis Core Exam.

To better prepare for the next time I take the exam, I have already brought a study guide

and plan to request another study guide, at the public library. I also plan to use the EdReady

website for math. I will continue to use links that the professor provided us, like Khan Academy,

and research other websites that I could help me. I will even use a tutor to help explain math and

writing concepts that I may not get in the study guides. I hope using other ways to prepare for the

Praxis exam will help me to pass the math and writing section of the exam.

All Elementary future teachers will need to face the Praxis Exam, which consists of three

sections (Math, writing, and reading). I did some preparation before I took this exam, but felt that

I did not study as much as I should have. I had first explained the qualifications require to

transfers to UNLV education program. Afterwards, I explained my test scores for The Praxis

Exam, ways I prepared for the exam, and new ways I will use to prepare for the future. I hope

that trying new ways to study for the Praxis Core Exam will help me to pass.
