Elvis Presley

Personal Life
Almost everyone knows who Elvis Presley is, but The King didnt always have the perfect life.
His family barely had enough money to buy a guitar. Born Elvis Aron Presley in Tupelo,
Mississippi on January 8, 1935. Elvis Presley grew up in a poor house, with a loving family.
Elvis had many different adventures in his lifetime, but also had many issues. Elvis Presley
didnt have the longest life, but he had a very eventful life.

Elvis was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley. Elvis had a twin brother, Jessie Garon, but he sadly
died soon after birth. Elvis was born Elvis Aron Presley, but changed his middle name to be
spelled in the biblical form of Aaron. But his birth certificate spells Aaron. There are many
reasons for why it is written like that. For example, one of the reasons is that it was spelled
wrong, another is that it was only written to rhyme with Garon. When Elvis was younger, he had
blonde hair, which started getting darker as he grew up, and he eventually dyed it jet black. Elvis
grew up as an only child. Because of the fact that Elvis brother was stillborn, Elvis mother,
Gladys, feared that Elvis might get sick, or even die. She was very protective of her son, and
Elvis and his mother grew very close. This was because his father was always working, and she
took care of him as much as she could. Elvis had a very hard working family who did a lot to
take care of him. It is important that Elvis family supported him, this helped him pursue him
career.

Elvis became interested in Blues and Country music from listening to it at a young age. Elvis
would hear different types of country music on the radio, and hear the poor African Americans
singing blues in the neighborhood he lived in. In 1946, Elvis, as a young boy, decided he wanted
a bike, but because his family didnt have a lot of money to spend, his parents could only afford a
guitar. Elvis Presleys first guitar was $12.95, and he used it to perform when he was younger.
For instance, on November 6, 1948, Elvis was leaving his Junior High Class, to say goodbye he
performed Leaf on a Tree. There were other times he performed for his school, Elvis once
performed at the Humes High School talent show, and got more applause than anyone else had,
and also got to perform an encore. This shows how Elvis learned about music, and began to love
being on stage, and he also began to learn about acting.

Elvis attended the Assembly of God church as a child, and would listen to and sing different
types of music and gospel tunes there. Elvis was raised to have strong faith in God, Elvis once
said, Whatever I become will be what God has chosen for me. Elvis believed this, and his
family did too. Elvis family had to move quite a lot, the main reason of them always moving
was that they just didnt have much money, they couldnt pay bills, and would have to move.
They ended up moving to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948. Elvis parents were very hard working
people, his dad worked many jobs, he was a carpenter, he had multiple jobs while working in the
factories, and he was also a farmer, and Gladys Presley stayed at home and always took care of
Elvis. He grew up around many other family members, including his aunts, uncles, his
grandparents, his cousins and other family members. Elvis had a very caring family, who helped
teach and take care of him.

As Elvis got older, and graduated, he decided to get his first job. He worked at the Parker
Machinists shop. He soon recorded his first song, and even began his long and successful music
career. He decided to give the recording of his song to his mother as a birthday present. Elvis
continued in his career until he got drafted into the military. While Elvis was in the military, his
mother, Gladys Presley, unfortunately passed away, so he went home for her funeral. After
returning to Europe, Elvis continued working in the armed forces. In 1959, Elvis Presley met
Priscilla Wagner in Germany. Elvis didnt know then, but he had just met his soon to be wife,
and soon to be ex-wife. After leaving the Army, Elvis began his acting career, and even appeared
on many talk shows and even performed some of his songs on television. Though Elvis was a
budding actor, it is important for anyone to have a family, which he found.

Priscilla Beaulieu Wagner was only 14 when Elvis met her in 1959. Elvis and Priscilla later
married after being together for about eight years. Then, in 1967, Priscilla gave birth to Elvis
only child, Lisa Marie Presley. Lisa Marie took after both her parents, she currently is a
singer/songwriter, and is also working as an actress. Later on, Elvis and Priscilla ended up
getting a divorce, Priscilla Presley wanted to divorce Elvis because of his drug addiction and
how he relied on drugs and let them control him. This wasnt a good thing, and his addiction to
drugs definitely did not help him at all.

Elvis Presley died on August 19, 1977 from a heart attack. It came to realization that it wasnt
normal for someone at the age of 42 to die from, or even have a heart attack. This caused an
investigation to go down, and it was discovered that Elvis had a drug issue. After Elvis passed
away, drugs were found in his system, but a lot, this is said to be the main cause of his death.
Apparently, Elvis was prescribed the drugs by a doctor, about 8,805 pills, tablets and other
types of medication. Going back to 1975, Elvis had taken about 19,012 drugs. This was
extremely bad for his health, and anyones, that is why he passed away. Though Elvis cause of
death was ruled a heart attack and drug overdose, there were still many theories for his cause of
death. For example, that he had fallen and crack his head while filming a movie, and he had
other head injuries through his life, so people said he had died from them. Even though his death
was not something people were happy about, his music is still played today.

Elvis had many fans in his day, and he still does currently. Elvis Presley has a shrine to him in
Graceland, which is near his old home, and his death place. The shrine was made by his fans,
and many of his followers go there daily to remember him. Elvis Impersonators even go there
and perform sometimes. Graceland has become a very popular tourist area. Elvis Presley was
described as a kind and generous person, who will be remembered.

In conclusion, Elvis Presley had a great influence on many people. His music, his acting, and
even his kindness changed how people thought. Elvis was married, and had a child who grew up
to be successful like him. Even though Elvis got divorced, Elvis continued on with his life until it
was over. Elvis Aaron Presley passed away on August 19,1977, leaving his popular music,
multiple movies, and even his dance moves for the world to remember. Elvis was, and still is, an
extremely popular musician and actor. He was very humble, and kind, and had a very hectic life.
Elvis Presley will be remembered for a very long time, and he has a legacy that will not be
forgotten.
Music Career
Rock and Roll, Blues, Country, Pop, Ballad, R&B and Gospel. These are all types of music that
Elvis Presley sang. The first time Elvis ever performed was in a talent show. Elvis had a variety
of things happen for his career, including some major fails, and unbelievable comebacks. Elvis
even wrote the soundtrack for movies he was in, which were normally very popular. He also won
a few Grammys for his music. Through many Ups and Downs, Elvis managed to be named the
best singer of many genres.

Before his music career, Elvis Presley was just a poor boy, he didnt do, or have much, but that
soon changed. When I got outta High School I was driving a truck. I was just a poor boy from
Memphis, Memphis. Elvis was telling his story, and how his life changed, and it did change a
lot. Starting his music career, Elvis recorded the song My Happiness and That's when your
Heartaches Begin at the Memphis Recording Service, which is home of the Sun Label. Sam
Phillips is the one who recorded him singing these songs, and told his assistant something that
caused her to write down Good Ballad Singer. Hold. Elvis mainly performed rock and roll, but
he sang many genres of music. Soon after recording his first few songs, Elvis got on the radio,
and got famous overnight.

Even though Elvis was considered The King of Rock and Roll he once said, I dont know
anything about music. In my line you dont have to. Elvis Presley made his songs relatable, so
people could listen to them, and understand them more, which also got him more fans. For
example, Elvis has many songs about a broken heart, or love, which is a very relatable topic for
many people. Elvis voice was described as expressive and dramatic, which also made him very
popular. All of these things made Elvis gain fame, but his career didnt stop there.

Elvis Presley was a performer, and a very popular one. While on stage Elvis even did karate
moves, he even earned a black belt in karate in 1960. After a performance, Elvis would say his
famous trade mark, Thank ya, Thank ya very much Elvis almost always had jet black greased
back hair, which was considered one of his best qualities. Elvis Presley even set records for the
largest concert attendance and best-selling albums, and today he is still one of the best-selling
music artists. He is in three separate music halls of fame and has gotten three Grammys for his
gospel music. Elvis got his first Grammy for How Great Thou Art which was a very popular
gospel album.

Elvis performed at many places, but he never performed outside of North America. One time,
Elvis performed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. He was not invited back because he played
rock and roll, and not country. This was one of his mistakes in his career in 1954. Even though
he messed up, his career kept on. Elvis Presley was different than other musicians, he had just
made a big mistake, but remained very famous. He was lucky for this to happen.

Elvis had other fails and mistakes in his musical career. After 1960, Elvis Presley failed to get a
song on the Country Music Charts until 1968. Elvis also never got an R&B song on the top
charts after 1963. But of course, he always made a comeback. One of Elvis biggest comeback
ever included him selling out 57 shows in Las Vegas. This set another record for concert
attendance, and he also ended up going on tour. Elvis toured the United States, he said he was
very stressed from all the traveling. A very stressed Elvis Presley managed to appear on about
five hundred stages, and perform live concerts. This was one of Elvis biggest and most
successful moments in his career.

Elvis Presley had many popular songs. For example, Thats All Right was made in 1954 and
was very popular. Another example is Heartbreak Hotel which hit number one on the charts in
1956, this song was very famous and is still played at events today. There was also Jailhouse
Rock which was released in 1957, Viva Las Vegas came out in 1964, and his song Burning
Love was made in, and became popular in 1972. There was also Hound Dog which was made
in 1956, and is one of his most popular songs. Jailhouse Rock was written for the movie
Jailhouse Rock both the movie and the song became very famous. Many of Elvis songs hit
number one on multiple charts, or they were played many times at many events, either way, Elvis
had proved he was one of the best music artist there was. Elvis Presley had many great songs,
many of which were written for movies, and others were just made for concerts.

You may have heard someone call Elvis Presley The King or The King of Rock and Roll.
These were nicknames given to him back when he first became famous, and he is still called
these nicknames today. He was named these because at the time, he was considered the best
Rock and Roll artist ever. Elvis never said if he appreciated these nicknames, but there were
other nicknames that his fans named him, that he was not a fan of at all. Though Elvis had his
few nicknames, Elvis Presley even had a stamp with a detailed drawing of him singing on it, and
it was used quite a lot. The Elvis Stamp is still sold today and is one of the highest selling stamps
of all time. The stamp was a great thing to have so people could send their mail, with a stamp of
their favorite singer.

There was another time when Elvis started losing his fame, he had less fans, and less sales. Once
he saw this was happening he recorded a television special, and proved he was still The King of
Rock and Roll the audience was amazed, and Elvis once again, was number one. Elvis Presley
had a total of 18 number one singles. Elvis Presley was still the best people had heard. From his
fans to his fellow musicians, Elvis Presley musically influenced many, including The Beatles,
and many other Rock and Roll artists today. It was great that Elvis was able to influence others,
he may be the reason we still have many rock and roll, musicians today.

All in all, Elvis Presley was one of the most famous Rock and Roll, Pop, Country, R&B, Blues,
Ballad, and Gospel music artists there was. Elvis Presley had a large music career, all starting in
the summer of 1953, his first ever record. Man, that record came out and was real big in
Memphis. They started playing it, and it got real big. Don't know why-the lyrics had no
meaning. -Elvis Presley. After Elvis hit the radio, he was instantly famous, which rarely
happened for most musicians. Elvis career rarely stopped, and if it did, he just kept coming
back, no one could stop him. The King broke records for albums, and concert tickets sold.
Elvis had forty-five records in total, mostly all different types of music. Though Elvis did have
forty-five records, not every single one of them made the best sale. From his songs that were
number one, to some that werent as great, Elvis Presleys music was the best there was. Starting
from radio famous, to the nationwide star, Elvis was still humble about it all. Elvis Aaron Presley
was a Rock and Roll legend, and performed other types of music, though he is no longer with us,
he is still famous, and his fame will live on.

Acting Career
Though Elvis Presley was at first a rock and roll star, he soon became an actor. Matching his
music, Elvis movies were also successful, but not many of them. From losing 15 pounds to fit a
role, to his movies getting more and more corny. Elvis worked hard in his acting career, even
though not all of his films were successful. Elvis was only an actor for a couple years, but many
things happened during his acting career.
Starting with his first movie in 1956, Love Me Tender did great in the box office. He had made a
good impression, and this let his career continue. Elvis soon moved to Hollywood to continue his
acting career, through 1960-1967 Elvis decided to focus on his acting career, which led to greater
success. Most of Elvis 1960s movies and soundtracks were very good, and made almost $280
million. Elvis became the highest paid actor in the 1960s. Elvis had once said, "Later on they
send me to Hollywood. To make movies. It was all new to me. I was only 21 years old," he said
this describe his new career, and how it happened. Elvis Presley became a great actor, but he did
have a couple problems in his career.

Elvis was in a total of thirty-three movies, most of which were musicals. At first Elvis made
great movies, and he wanted to be an amazing actor, but it seemed that the longer he was an
actor, the cornier the movies got. Elvis worked hard to become an actor, he was inspired by
James Dean. But of course, Elvis had a couple movies that were very successful. Viva Las Vegas
which was released in 1964, made $11.33 million at the box office. He had also written some of
the songs for this movie. Though there werent a lot, it wasnt the only movie that was
successful.

Though most of the movies Elvis Presley was in were musicals, the movie Jailhouse Rock was
one of the only movies Elvis got to perform rock and roll in. Elvis was in the movie GI Blues,
(1960) which he made the soundtrack for, Elvis once said, "The next thing I knew, I was out of
the service and making movies again. My first picture was called, GI Blues. I thought I was still
in the army." GI Blues was also a successful movie, but it was not his most successful film.

When Elvis was being interviewed, he stated that the film King Creole, made in 1958, was his
favorite movie he had starred in. To fit his role in King Creole Elvis lost 15 pounds and shaved
his sideburns. Some of Elvis other movies caused him to change his appearance. For example
the movie Loving You caused Elvis to dye his hair jet black, and even showed Elvis first on-
screen kiss. Elvis was committed to his roles in movies.

Through the many movies Elvis Presley was in, these were some of the best. Love Me Tender
(1956), Jailhouse Rock (1957), and King Creole (1958). These were the movies that made the
most money in the box office, there were others that did also. For instance, GI Blues (1960),
which was his first movie after returning from the army, and was one of his 1960s movies. Viva
Las Vegas (1964), was also a 1960s movie, which made a lot of money.
Though Elvis had a lot of movies, he also did other things to appear on the screen. Elvis Presley
was a guest on multiple talk shows that many people watched. This let him inspire the world.
Elvis even appeared on the Dorsey Brothers Stage Show six times, which was a popular show.
The more Elvis was a guest on a show, the more famous he got. Elvis would perform on shows,
or just get interviewed.

Elvis Presley inspired many people, even when not performing. Elvis once met a crew members
son while on the set of Follow That Dream whose name was Tom Petty. Tom was so inspired by
Elvis, he ended up growing up to be a famous Southern Rock Star. There are many other actors
and actresses today that said they were inspired by Elvis at one point, just like Elvis was inspired
by James Dean. Elvis had a large impact on the theater community. It was great that Elvis was
able to inspire people to act.
Elvis was a great actor for some time, but like everyone, Elvis career started to go downhill.
After Elvis filmed the movie Blue Hawaii his acting career sure did, go downhill. This was when
his movies started getting corny, or just plain bad. Even though his movies werent great, they
still sold pretty well, this might of been because people expected them to be good. It wasnt good
that Elvis started struggling, but he had other things to do, of course.

At one point, everyone will retire from their job, or quit. Elvis Presley was only thirty-four years
old when he made his last movie. This was the age most actors were just then becoming famous.
He ended up focusing on his music career after this. Just because Elvis didnt make movies
anymore, didnt mean there were not movies with Elvis Presley in them. Other people would
impersonate Elvis in movies about him. There are still movies like this being made today, some
of which have become popular and sold well. This meant Elvis did have a large impact on the
film world.

Elvis Presley made many movies, but they all had a similar theme. Most of Elvis movies had a
sex appeal, which made him famous with mainly teenage girls. Even though his movies were
like that, they were also popular with other people, and were played at family homes. Elvis
movies were good, but not appropriate for everyone.

Television had just became a popular thing in the 50s, when Elvis Presley first became famous.
Though 90% of homes owned a television, Elvis acting career hadnt started then, so Elvis was
not one of the first television actors. Even though he wasnt the first, he was a lot more famous
than other actors in his time. Either way, Elvis always impressed his audience, he was in
television specials, and multiple movies.

Elvis had many amazing movies, but not everyone thought so. Many of his movies are said to
have killed his career including his famous movie, G.I. Blues. Many other movies of his were
called horrible and said to have been that one movie that ruined his career. Most of these were
probably wrong, but there were many movies that were just fails.

Overall, Elvis Presley was a successful actor for some time. Many of his movies were box office
successes, but others, not so much. Though he had some declined movies, his films will be
remembered. Elvis Presley is not one to slip someone's memory, he made movies, sang in them,
and even has movies being made today about him. Elvis was a great actor, a kind person, and his
acting career has influenced many people currently, and previously.
