Below are graphs for both 3rd period and 8th period.

The graphs include pre-assessment (in blue), post-assessment (in orange),

and the reading comprehension quiz (in grey). Of the 51 students in my 2 sections of MYP 10 English, 8 students did not attempt
any portion of the pre-assessment, 9 did not attempt the post- assessment, and 2 students did not attempt the reading
comprehension quiz. 37 of 51 students took both the pre- and post- assessments. Of the students who took both the pre- and
post assessment, 5 students scored a lower percentage on the post-assessment. 4 of those students are female and 1 is male.
Students who did better on the reading comprehension quize typically did better on the post-assessment. The average for all
students on the pre-assessment was 44.7 percent or about 17.8/40. The average for the post-assessment was 62.9 percent and
the average for the reading comprehension quiz was 74.4.

What do these assessments show about the learning that did or did not occur in the unit?
I think that what this data shows is that for the skills tested, one of the greatest determiners of success on the post-assessment
was thorough reading of the selected novel. Over all, 8 th period performed better than 3rd, but had lower gains. Females
performed better than males, but had lower gains. After breaking down individual data for a few students, I found that the areas
where students struggled moving from pre- to post- assessment were typically setting and style.
