Day Care For The Future

26th April 2017

OVERVIEW
There has been a decrease of students enrolling and continuing the Granite Peaks
Learning Center GED and ESL programs. This is affecting our level gain and
graduate outcomes.

GOALS
1. Increase the number of students who complete our GED and ESL
programs to get more level gains and graduates.
2. Distribute funding gained from level gains and graduates thought the
GPLC program e.g. Community Education, faculty meetings and books.

SPECIFICATIONS

This day care would be free to current students who are enrolled and continuously
attending during the school year. Students must meet specific criteria such as the
attendance and testing policy which is currently being regulated by secretaries.
Volunteers would be recruited from local colleges such as Salt Lake Community
College and Westminster College. Donations such as prepackaged snacks and
games from parents who use the free daycare would be accepted and appreciated.

Volunteers would be background checked and fingerprinted by the Granite School

District which would be paid for by the volunteer. There will be four to six volunteers
with flexible and rotating weekly shifts. Volunteers will be monitored by the
coordinators and secretaries.

Why a day care?

As it gets closer to the end of the school year, more parents are looking for some
kind of supervision for their children. Aside from work keeping students out of
school, most of our students can not afford a babysitter. By creating a daycare, we
increase funding and make our program competitive to local districts.
