1st Period

Terms
Passive range of motion = what the patient can do by themselves or with
help of a physical therapist
Active range of motion = doing the motion in an exercise or activity, done
completely by the patients ability
SC Joint sternoclavicular = sternum and clavicle
o Injuries there are not as common
AC Joint acromioclavicular = scapula (top of it) and clavicle
o separated shoulder affects shoulder function but most people dont
have surgery for it
o Makes the clavicle stick up
Glenoid-humeral Joint = where the scapula and humorous meet
o ball and socket
Pseudo-joint = where scapula meets ribcage
o No bone on bone attachment, attached through fascia
o (part of the ball and socket)
o Labrum increases density
Acts as a suction
If we didnt have it the ball would move off the tee (golf
analogy)
Shoulder need more flexibility than any other joint
