SENIOR PROJECT SELF-EVALUATION

Directions: Utilize this worksheet to help evaluate yourself and your project. Be as complete
and descriptive as possible. This self-evaluation should give the scoring team a clear picture of
what you accomplished in your project.

1. In 40 words or more describe who your project benefited and how. In other words, what was the
impact of your project?

All of the people who participated in my study benefited from the project because they became more
informed on the topic, and they might one day be the reason that the enforcement of child support
payments gets changed. The attorneys that I met with for my project also benefited because they were
able to see results that had never before been obtained. They were given a new outlook on how potential
clients felt and how the system of child support enforcement could be improved.

3. In at least 40 words explain how the project challenged you. How was this a stretch for you?

This project was a challenge for me because a project like this had never been done before. There was no
precedent that I could follow, and no one had any real experience with conducting a large scale study.
This was a stretch because I also had to reword many of my questions several times due to the possibility
that people would be offended by the questions. As a person who usually speaks my mind freely without
changing the language to suit someone elses emotions, altering the way I word questions and statements
was a challenge.

4. List and then describe 5-8 fundamental ideas/concepts/skills of your project, which you
learned/enhanced during your project. Please use a table format as shown in the example below.

People management Making sure that people stay on the topic of conversation and
dont stray too far from the question
Time management Making sure that everything was complete and ready before the
events
Communication Contacting legal professionals and explaining what I am trying
to accomplish
Strategizing Quickly coming up with solutions to problems that arise in order
to make my project better
Open-mindedness Being open to different ideas and suggestions that are given to
me
Leadership Contacting people on my own, directing people on what to do,
and essentially leading a group of people
How to create a large-scale study Coming up with questions, finding participants, and analyzing
the results

5. List and describe 4-8 problems/obstacles/issues you encountered in your project, and briefly
describe how you solved each.
Lack of participants I changed my audience so that it was much more broad and I
would have an easier time finding more participants
Time management I sat down and scheduled out all the time that I had for school,
work, and extracurricular activities, and then seeing what I could
cut down on
Budgeting I created a list of everything that I needed to pay for each week
so that I could see what could wait until my next paycheck and
what could not
Strategizing I convened with my consultant to go over different options for
how I could complete my project if certain things did not work
out

Central Library, Great Neck Library, pens, paper, a spiral notebook, cups, plates, napkins, sweet tea,
lemonade, Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets

7. List all people who helped you on the project and briefly describe the help given.

Ms. Mason served as my project consultant. She provided me with advice and suggestions when they
were most needed. Ms. Van Schenck also provided advice and suggestions when Ms. Mason was not
available. Mr. Richard Garriott, Mr. Naveed Kalantar, and Mr. Brett Carroll served as panelists for my
panel after my study, and they provided great insight into the questions that I asked. My mom also helped
a lot because she encouraged me to keep going and that I was capable of completing my project.

8. How does your completed project compare to the picture you had in mind when you started the
project? Explain the reason behind any changes from your proposal.

My completed project is fairly different from what I pictured because I had to completely change my
audience. My change in audience was because no one from my target audience showed up to participate
in the study. I changed my audience from divorced parents to anyone who was willing to take the survey.
I was left with more results than I would have gotten, but they just werent as detailed as they would have
been with divorced parents. Not many people showed up to my panel either, which caused me to seek out
more participants to account for a lack of audience.

9. If given the opportunity, explain what you would have done differently now that you speak from
experience?
The very first thing that I would have done is created a flyer for each part of my project and publish them
as early as possible. I struggled from not having enough participants in the beginning, so publicizing
would be the biggest thing that I would do differently.

10. Beyond the project itself, what did you learn about yourself?

I learned that I am capable of more than I think I am. Aside from the project, I learned that I am able to
effectively balance school, work, extracurricular activities, and a social life.

11. What grade would you give yourself on the project? Justify the evaluation of your grade in at
least 25 words.
Grade: A- (90)

Justification: I would give myself this grade because I have a very unique project with a very unique
topic, but there still aspects that I could have improved on, such as my time management. I addressed a
topic that most people choose to avoid, and I brought light to it, leading to more people thinking about
what we can do to improve the child support enforcement system.
