Wales

When researching my families history I was able to pin point

them back to Whales. I discovered this in a book about my family. It

doesnt say all that much other than that. I also know that my family

brought over about 25 people with them.

The flag of Wales consists of a red dragon passant on a green

and white field. The flag incorporates the red dragon of Cadwaladr,

King of Gwyenedd, along with the Tudor colors of green and white

(Huggins). The red dragon was then included as a supporter of the

Tudor royal arms to signify their Welsh descent (The Red Dragon of Wales).

The House of Tudor was a royal house of Welsh and English origin (The

Red Dragon of Wales). The flag was granted official status in 1959, but the

red dragon itself has been associated with Wales for centuries (The Red

Dragon of Wales). A possible theory is that the Romans brought the

emblem to what is now Wales during their occupation of Britain in the

form of the Draco standards borne by the Roman cavalry (The Red Dragon

of Wales).

To become a citizen of any part of the UK is very difficult. British

nationality law stipulates that you must have a British parent, and

furthermore, that parent must be British-born, not a citizen by descent

(Become a British citizen). The most common way to become a citizen is

called naturalization (Become a British citizen). This however is very

difficult to do.

Im not exactly sure of the culture but that is something I want to

research more into. I want to know if I have any connections to Wales, I

also want to know where the other side of my family comes from.
