Job Description

AAA Oregon/Idaho's strategies, goals and objectives center around serving the needs of
AAA members. The Club's MemberCare Initiative addresses the importance of creating
legendary customer service relationships with both members and internal customers.
Therefore, it is an expectation that all AAA employees conduct themselves in a
professional, ethical manner and approach their work with a commitment to these
service ideals.

Job Title: Marketing Director

Department: Marketing Department

Reports To: Vice President, Travel Services and Marketing

FLSA Status: Exempt

1. General Summary

Responsible for promotion and marketing of all AAA Oregon/Idaho products and
services. Provides strategic direction and expertise to cross functional teams in the
creation, execution and monitoring of marketing campaigns. Manages all aspects of
marketing projects and tasks. Collects and analyzes data to evaluate potential markets
and opportunities. Actively leads, coaches and develops the Marketing department
team.

2. Essential Functions

Develop and manage annual marketing goals and strategy.

Manages all aspects of the marketing projects ensuring they are completed on time
and within budget guidelines. Coordinate with other business line leaders to ensure
projects meet goals and objectives.

Responsible for creating and implementing the promotion and campaign calendar of
AAA products and services through all marketing channels including print, radio, TV,
digital, and direct mail.
Responsible for writing copy and product messaging for a variety of mediums
including external marketing materials, membership communications, and internal
memos.
Coordinate with third party marketing firms and partners to achieve goals and
objectives.

Forecast and track annual marketing budget.

Develop and implement membership acquisition and retention strategies including


direct mail, renewal bill marketing materials, e-marketing strategy, and content.

Track and analyze marketing results and campaign effectiveness, including


membership production and renewal rates.

Facilitate monthly marketing meetings as needed with applicable business line


leaders.

Coordinate and assist departments and Service Centers with marketing activities
and participation in community events.

Provide guidance and compliance with brand standards and AAA logo usage.

Coach, lead and develop marketing department staff.

Responsible for recruiting, training, and other employment related activities.

Promote the Club's Member Action Plan ("MAP").

Regular physical attendance at the job site is an essential job duty.

3. Secondary Functions

Track usage of MRMConnect/SAM software, and utilize program to track sales and
marketing efforts.

All other duties as assigned.

4. Demands / Complexity

Job involves varied work situations. Job involves a moderate degree of complexity, and
management of multiple projects in a fast paced environment with competing deadlines.
Position works from some established procedures, but at times develops new or original
procedures/methods.
Job operates independently with general supervision. Decisions are made within
general company policy constraints. Position maintains membership and sales files
which are confidential in nature. Position is not accountable for control of capital assets.

Position is partially accountable for long-range marketing goals and strategic planning
within the marketing area. Errors in work could lead to a down turn or loss of
membership acquisitions and renewals.

5. Supervisory Responsibility

The position includes full supervisory responsibilities.

6. Specific Job Skills

Superior verbal and written communication skills are required. Interpersonal, decision-
making, and discretionary skills required. Strong organizational skills and ability to
handle multiple tasks and priorities required. Experience in successfully managing cross
functional teams to achieve goals and objectives. Creative thinking required, as well as
a blend of business acumen, tactical knowledge and strategic perspective. Must speak,
read, write, and comprehend English. Must be able to work in a team environment.
Public speaking/training/negotiation skills desired. Must be able to perform basic math.

7. Education / Experience

Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications or Business Administration required.


7-10 years experience in the field, with at least 5 years experience in a marketing
leadership role.

8. Job Conditions

Position may require travel to Service Centers and occasional evening and weekend
events. Job encounters frequent interruptions. Normal working hours are
8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
