My experiences as a long term substitute teacher have allowed me the opportunity to
interact with the diverse student population of Atlantic City and engage them in learning. (609)3503591
Using teaching methods that model the core curriculum, including providing high-interest
learning material, multiple means of assessment and instruction, as well as the careful
modeling and implementation of new skills, I strive to ensure that every student achieves
excellence. This includes students of all different ability levels.
In addition to believing that every student deserves and is capable of fulfilling their true
potential, I am sincerely passionate about preparing students for the world in which we live
in. This means providing the tools they need to become successful in life, hopefully
inspiring them to go to college, develop a dream and achieve goals beyond imagination. My
lessons utilize both modern and traditional techniques allowing students to learn and
develop in ways that are helpful to them. This includes the use of technology, creativity,
enthusiasm, individuality, real life experiences and most importantly core academics.
Utilizing all of these tools allows for student growth and authentic learning experiences
which will engage them in the subject matter and teach valuable real world skills. Through
my background knowledge in Psychology, I understand many different aspects of child
growth and development that would be highly beneficial in properly dealing with the
emotional, social and cultural components; which contribute to a childs educational
experience.
Despite receiving my Bachelors degree in psychology, I took many courses in
education and am currently completing the alternate route program. This has heightened my
experience as a substitute teacher and became my motivation and excitement to learn more
about the education field. Substituting provided me with opportunities to teach different
grades and students while allowing me to work with and learn from many different
teachers. I have created a girls program called Empowered Young Females, I am currently
head of my schools Health Committee and Assembly committee. I have constructed many
assemblys including honors award, exercise, charity dance-a-thons, Black History month
and talent shows. Also through my background as dance teacher, I have had the experience
of working with parents and students on the performing arts level. This is something I
would contribute to the school if given the opportunity.
With a growing passion for education, entering into the alternate route program was a
critical decision. My inspiration is to help students aspire to be all they can be, to believe,
achieve and succeed through education. I am passionate about teaching children and
creating relationships with them that help build a sense of confidence and enable them to
grow as learners. I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how my
skills and experience can meet the needs of your students. Thank you for your
consideration.
Sincerely,
Alexia Vidal
