My Educational Philosophy

By Priscilla Aranda

As a student whose dream has always been to have a classroom of my own, I

value education and diverse teaching methods. My goal as a future educator is to
help all students of all cultural backgrounds feel comfortable in their learning
environment and help them reach their full academic potential. I know my students
will hold the key to the future so it will be my duty to provide them with the best
education they deserve to help prepare them for the real world.

I plan on achieving my goal by using teaching methods that reach all

learning styles. By implementing literature, technology, the arts, and music into my
curriculum when teaching the Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards
(ACCRS) students will experience a variety of lessons that are constantly engaging
and informative. I also plan on using place based instruction so students are
learning about things happening in their immediate environment.

Assessments used in my classroom will not only be formative, but I will

implement informative assessments that allow me to constantly check for
understanding while teaching. I will respect my students individual learning needs
and implement modifications when needed.

I plan on allowing students to express themselves by encouraging them to

share information about their at home cultures. By doing this I hope to have a
culturally diverse classroom where students get a sense of family with no
judgement. I understand that students must feel comfortable with themselves and
one another in order to have a positive learning experience so respect and self-
awareness will be a strong focus in our room.

As an educator I will play a major role in students lives. It will be an honor

to help students learn the skills they need to survive in our world today. I look
forward to playing both roles as educator and nurturing friend when they are in
need. I will continue to attend educational conferences to help learn best practices
and skills so my students are provided with an evolving education.
