Oh that is so good! Yes ma'am, of course his behavior has not been acceptable and i have been
having difficulty with him being honest with me about what is going on with his schoolwork and
everything so I just want to make sure that the line of communication is open so I am able to do
what I need to at home to ensure he is doing what he needs to be doing at school. Thank you for
taking the time and helping me with him!

Hello Charlene,

Yes he did, thank you so much for talking with him. I did tell him the whole
lunch would account for the two days, he was very quiet and respectful and
wrote me an essay on his behavior.

Hello Jennifer,

I just wanted to check in with you and make sure that Ashton came in for his lunch detention
today. He said that it was 15 minutes for each day and that he spent his lunch with you and does
not have to go again tomorrow? I am not sure that this sounds correct, so if you are able to spend
a moment and let me know if he will still need to come in and do lunch detention tomorrow.

Hello Jennifer,

Thank you for letting me know, I will speak with him this afternoon. I apologize for his behavior
and the trouble that he has been, his father and I are working hard to get him to act right and I am
just not sure why he is making these decisions and acting out this way. This past year has been
tough, and his father and I have been talking about him moving to Texas next summer and I don't
know if he just feels like he can stop trying in his schoolwork and listening to his teachers. I am
so sorry for the issues he's been having but please know that I am working at correcting this
behavior. Again, thank you for keeping me informed.

Hello Charlene,

I just want to keep you updated that your son has not shown up for lunch detention yet and I
informed him today that he will now have to serve two days. I will continue adding a day

I just wanted to touch base with you on my son Ashton. He did not have anything in his notebook
on page 14 for me to review, so I did write you a note in his planner and signed it. I did check
parentvue to see his grade, do you provide the opportunity for a student to come in the morning
and retake the test because I see his score is a 4 out of 15.. For the reading reflection is this done
from a book he should be bringing home or done in class? We had some issues at his last school
with him not taking responsibility for his work and turning it in or completing assignments so I
am just making sure I keep in touch with his teachers and checking on when his assignments are
due so we do not run into the same issue. I appreciate you taking the time and assisting me with
making sure he completes his work and I told him that I do expect for him to have all of the
required paperwork for me to sign in his notebook.

Hello Char,

Your son should have an interactive notebook that he takes home daily with
him. On page 14 is a list of questions that he should answer on his grade
reflections, this weeks is on #5 (page 18). I dont allow re-takes, but I will
allow them to make corrections for the points, I already went over the test
and answers with the kids yesterday. I do remember him being the first to
finish the test and asked him if he wanted to re-do his answers because I saw
they the wrong, he chose not to.

Also, I have been having to move his desk daily to the back of the class
and/or have him sit outside because he is talking and disrupting other
students in the class. He has been notified that he has lunch detention for
his behavior but hasnt come into my class to fulfill this obligation.

Please let me know by phone or email how I can assist him in helping his
behavior, as I dont like having to move him around and keeping him
isolated.

Hello Parents and Families,

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a long and fun weekend with my 16 year old son, as
we played in our first co-ed basketball tournament this weekend. I just want to continue keeping
you in the loop with our class. This past week we learned how to multiply and divide multi-digit
decimals and after grading the tests from Friday, it appeared that a lot of students struggled with
this concept. I am allowing the students who got a 9 or below on the test to make corrections for
of each problems value, this test was worth 15 points. If you would like to assist your child,
they have classwork that can help out on pages 56-58 of their Interactive Notebook. We just
started learning about integers (numbers without a fractional part). If you would like to learn
more and help your child understand this concept you can click on the following links:
http://www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/integer.html

This is a great interactive resource for you and your child:

https://www.khanacademy.org/math/cc-sixth-grade-math/cc-6th-negative-number-topic?
t=practice

Your childs grade in Synergy was updated this morning for their interactive notebook check and
multiplication/division of decimals from Friday. Please take a look at page 17 in their book to
make sure you have read and signed your child's grade reflection #4. Please take a look at your
childs progress and see how they are performing on their classwork and tests, they are or should
be taped in their notebook on pages 53-58. Your child should have grade reflection #5 filled out
(answers to all 8 questions on page 14) and ask for your signature tonight. If this is completed
and turned in tomorrow (3/7) they will receive 5 extra credit points.

I still have quit a few students who havent completed their reading reflection for last week and
or got their parent signature (page 17), so please make sure your child is communicating this
with you.

I am here to help out before school at 7:30 am, during lunch, or after school if your child may
need help in completing their homework, make-up work, or just needing extra help on our
classwork.

I am still offering extra credit for any students who want to bring in copy paper, Kleenex, or
Clorox wipes, as we are running low on these supplies in our classroom. Your help and support
is great appreciated!

Thank you for all your understanding and support! I am here if you have any questions or
concerns and can be reached on my cell (505)948-1808 or by email anytime.

Have a great week,

Mrs. Jennifer Hernandez
