Diverse Learners : A teacher must understand how students
differ in their approaches to learning and create instructional
opportunities that are adapted to students with diverse backgrounds and exceptionalities. I have achieved this standard by differentiating my instruction for ELL students and students with various backgrounds (such as IEPs), throughout the time in the classroom. I did this by including actions and pictures with unknown vocabulary. I allow students to lead discussions about various topics so that students can learn from one another. The gradual release of responsibility has been incorporated into each of my lessons so that I can model my instructional task. This is how I differentiate and scaffold for my students who are considered diverse learners. In my student teaching experience, we utilized a word wall with images for new vocabulary, as well as, a math word wall.
