Family Activities (kids between 10 and 17)

Family Fun Fest is a free public program that occurs every second Sunday of every
month between December and April. Its goal is to educate and inform kids about
Biscayne National Parks wildlife and environment. Kids and their parents can engage in
different activities like science experiments, crafting projects and games.

Kids in fifth and sixth grade can participate in Biscayne National Parks residential
environmental education camping program. The program is three days/two nights on
Elliot Key and is usually during the winter and spring.

The Biscayne Birding Trail allows visitors to observe the native and non-native bird
species that inhabit the park. The park has partnered with the Tropical Audubon Society
to offer certificates for birders who achieve four levels of bird watching. Junior
certificates are offered to kids 18 and under.

Island guided boat tours are led by park rangers. The tour includes a visit to ornamental
lighthouse on Boca Chita Key and Elliot Key, the parks largest island. Both islands have
picnicking and camping grounds. Dates and times are available on the parks calendar
online.

Kids have an opportunity to become junior rangers through activities that will earn them
an official badge.

The Park After Dark is a program that allows visitors to stay on the parks grounds after it
has closed for stargazing and camping activities. The park supplies telescopes and smore
ingredients free of cost. munch on. Some nights the park provides musical performances
by local folk artists. These programs take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Visitors can snorkel and discover the marine life within the bay. There is also a chance to
snorkel among historical shipwrecks like Mandalay and Arratoon Apcar. For divers, Erl
King, Alicia and Lugano shipwrecks will allow them to go deeper into Biscaynes waters.

The park provides kayaks and canoes daily for families who want to paddle through one
of Biscaynes six waterway trails.

The Dante Fascell Center Gallery has exhibits with themed art pieces on display. Artists
hold meet and greet receptions for those interested.
