FFA & SAE Philosophy

As an Agricultural Educator, I am dedicated to incorporating all parts of the three-circle

model in my classroom. Educating students about agriculture does not only include
classroom instruction, but also includes the FFA and SAE sectors. FFA and SAE help
students to apply what they learn in the classroom in real life situations. FFA helps
students to develop leadership skills, prepares them for future careers, and helps them
grow personally.

I strive to include every student in FFA activities and will push every student to
participate in their own SAE project. As students are involved in their SAE projects, they
will be able given the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a workplace environment,
learn workplace conduct, and develop new skills that can be useful in shifting into their
future education and careers. I will monitor students projects by visiting their projects at
least twice a year and having students keep records through the AET website. Students
will be required to keep records and will have monthly grades based on their progress on
AET. Along with AET, I will make students prepare for safety issues in their specified
project. I plan to make safety a priority in my classroom and will hold students to a high
standard when it comes to safe practices. I will teach several safety lessons in my
classroom throughout the year to remind students of the importance of safety.

FFA is an organization that helps instill self-respect and personal values that will help
students become strong citizens. I am devoted to recognizing students for their
accomplishments within their FFA membership and in the classroom. The FFA program
allows all students to participate in Career Development Events and Leadership
Development Events that help students succeed and learn lifelong skills. I will recognize
students for their success in FFA events, awards, and efforts by holding a banquet at the
end of the year.

The FFA is a student-run organization that operates on a local, state, and national level.
As the advisor of my agricultural education program, I will provide leadership
opportunities to my students, mainly my chapter FFA officers. I will advise them
occasionally when situations become difficult. I will delegate responsibilities to my
officers to help them gain strong responsibility and leadership skills. I will also rely on
alumni and community members to help organize events. Being involved in the
community and with the community is important to me. I will do my best to connect with
community members to receive support for my students and program.
