patient

Objective: To help determine the best, quickest, least invasive and most cost
effective procedure that may be less harmful without causing unnecessary
discomfort or inconvenience to the client.

Policy: Requesting Laboratory and Diagnostic Procedures for Best Patient

Outcomes

Scope: Medical Professionals (Surgeon/Physician), Nursing Personnel (Nurse,

Nursing Attendant), Allied Health Professionals (Medical Technologists,
Laboratory Technicians);

Procedure:
1) The surgeon/ physician make an order for a laboratory test on the
Doctors Order Sheet and on a duly accomplished laboratory request
form.

2) The nurse will carry out the order and encode the information on the
laboratory request form in the Bizbox with the help of the nursing
attendant.

3) The medical technologist/ laboratory technician will then come to the

ward with the Bizbox request and the procedure is performed.
