A Hilye (Turkish) or Hilya (Arabic) is a calligraphic panel, often used as a wall decoration, containing a
description of the prophet Muhammad's physical appearance based on the hadith. Hilye leaves picturing the
Prophet's appearance to the reader's imagination, in line with the aniconic nature of Islamic art.
