GONSKI 2.0 WILL MEAN CUTS FOR LOCAL SCHOOLS: CHARLTON

Labor candidate for Robertson, Anne Charlton has labelled the governments
Gonski 2.0 proposal a political smokescreen for more local school cuts by a
government you just cant trust on education funding.

The school funding announcement made by Malcolm Turnbull will mean less money
for Central Coast schools, fewer teachers and cuts to our classrooms.

The government's briefing documents state the government is spending $22 billion
less over a decade than Labor promised schools at the last election.

To put that in a local perspective, thats the equivalent of cutting $2.4 million from
every school on the Central Coast. That is just unacceptable.

Our children deserve the best start in life and the announcement yesterday is a kick
in the guts to school budgets across the Coast.

This announcement proves that Malcolm Turnbull is determined to rip $22 billion
from our schools to pay for his $50 billion big business tax cut.

Malcolm Turnbulls $50 billion big business tax cut is the equivalent of about $2000
for every Australian man, woman and child.

I dont know a single parent from the Central Coast that would rather hand $2000 to
big business rather than give it to their local school.

Ends.
