Presentation On Federal Bureau Of Prisons Policies

It is well known that the Bureau of Prisons is a large bureaucratic organization whose policies
bewilder many. Our goal is to present strategies to help lawyers and their clients navigate the
BOPs policies to achieve better sentencing outcomes. This is the perfect class for attorneys,
paralegals and investigators. We will show you how to navigate the policies and procedures of
the Federal Bureau of Prisons to achieve better outcomes for their clients.

Following is an overview of our presentation:

Description: This class presents information to help attorneys, paralegals and investigators
understand Bureau of Prisons policies so that they can understand, obtain and use data to
develop sentence mitigation strategies for their clients. With the sentencing hearing as a focal
point, we present strategies to help attorneys understand BOP policies, nuances of those
policies and the BOP culture to create better outcomes for defendants. Those outcomes
include, better placement, programming, adjustment and re-entry for every defendant.

Presenters:
Jack Donson co-founder and Vice President of Prisonology LLC. Jack (CV Attached) retired
from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) after a 23 year career, during which he received
national recognition in various case management capacities. Prior to his position at the BOP, he
was a probation and parole officer in Pennsylvania at both the county and state levels. He
currently serves as a Director for FedCURE, a national non-profit advocacy group for prison
reform. He also founded and operates a prison consulting firm in New York City. He is on the
Corrections Committee for both the American Bar Association and the National Association of
Criminal Defense Attorneys. He co-developed Prisonology, an on-line educational tool for
attorneys to help them prepare their clients for prison.

Walt Pavlo co-founder and President of and Prisonology LLC. Walt has an MBA from Mercer
University and is the co-author of the book, Stolen Without A Gun which he co-wrote with Neil
Weinberg, a senior reporter at Bloomberg. Pavlo is a contributor to Forbes.com on legal cases
associated with white-collar crime and to New York School of Laws Enforcement and
Compliance Program. He is an on-air and documentary contributor to CNBC on federal prison
and white collar crime issues. He is a nationally recognized speaker, lecturing at business
schools, law schools, federal law enforcement agencies and corporations.
