1. What requirements must you meet in order to study abroad? (i.e. GPA, etc.)

You are required to have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 for semester or year-long programs. You
are also required to have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 for summer programs. You must be
classified as a sophomore during term abroad. Must not be in final semester of degree
program during period abroad. Must have the approval of the Office of International
Programs and your department

2. What are the three (3) different types of study abroad programs available to

students?

Exchange provides students an affordable way to participate in study abroad. These programs utilize an established
relationship between specific universities that exchange students with each other with each student paying the
tuition and fees at their home university and not at the host university;

Direct Study Abroad program is administered by an organization offering study abroad support services (i.e. School
for International Training (SIT); American Institute for Foreign Studies (AIFS); International Studies Abroad (ISA).

Faculty-Led - programs that are organized and/or accompanied by an NCAT faculty member, usually during the
summer.

3. What are the deadlines for applying for study abroad?

5. Name two (2) scholarships that can fund you for your trip and how you meet the

requirements?

AIFS and NAFEO now offers a scholarship that pays for 50% of the study abroad
program fee. This scholarship is exclusively for students who attend HBCUs.
This program enables students who have limited financial means to participate in
study abroad opportunities worldwide. The programs provide awards of up to
$5,000 for U.S. citizen undergraduate students. To be eligible students must be
receiving a Federal Pell Grant

6. Where would you like to travel to for your study abroad experience and why?

I would like to study abroad in Africa. Because many people have stereotypical
thoughts about Africa. Many people believe Africa is a poor and unruly place. I
would travel there to study and document how Africa really is and show my
colleagues.

7. Does A&T offer this as an option? If not, then what would be your second choice

destination?

Yes,
