Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

In order enter into the Education program at a university such as UNLV or UNR

to earn your bachelors degree, you must complete the Praxis Core Academic Skills for

Educators exam. To become certified, you need to take and pass Math with a qualifying

score of 150, Reading with a qualifying score of 156 and Writing with a score of 162.

Exam Preparation

To prepare for the exam, I read and studied all of the links that were attached to

the Praxis Analysis assignment. I also went onto the Mometrix website and took the

practice tests for Math and Writing. However, I did not study or take the practice tests for

Reading at all, considering reading tests are usually pretty black and white; but obviously,

I should have!

Exam Results

In Math I scored in the 70% range which means I am on the borderline to pass the

Math section when I take the official Praxis Core Exam. In Writing I scored in the 75%

range which means I am on the borderline to pass the Math section when I take the

official Praxis Core Exam. Lastly, in Writing I scored in the 36% range which means I

need substantial improvement before I take the official Praxis Core exam.

Future Exam Preparation

 I have not yet passed the official Praxis Core Exam. In order to prepare for the

exam in the future, I will be sure to study. I already have the Praxis study book that a

coworker gave me and I will try and do all of the practice tests there. I will also take

advantage of the internet and use any resources that will help me prepare as well. Lastly, I

will make sure to take my time and put 100% effort in to make sure I pass.
