Pride Sample Essay

All throughout my sophomore year I thought about applying for jobs, but never went through

with the idea. Although I did apply for many jobs throughout my junior year, I didnt get any of them.

The summer after junior year I did get offered a job but was not able to take it because I went to Texas

for the whole summer. Finally getting a job was the fulfillment of my senior year. My cousin, who is now

a junior in college, had worked at a restaurant throughout high school and she had recommended me to

her previous boss, so I was automatically given the job. I was easily given the job without applying or

being interviewed. I did not take this for granted, I am so grateful. I am currently a waitress at Grannys

Pantry, which is a restaurant located in Atwater. This job has affected me very much. I know how it

feels to receive money for working hard and I am more outgoing because of this job. Ive been working

there these past 3 months and I enjoy it very much. I enjoy meeting new people and regularly seeing

them every time I go to work. I am even at the point in my job where I already know the drinks of all

the regular customers that go there almost everyday. I am just so glad that I was able to get a job while

in high school, especially during this year because it makes my senior year even more better. I like that I

make my own money now and being able to pay for things myself instead of depending on my parents

for money, I feel more like an adult already. I will forever be grateful to my cousin for helping me with

this.
