How digital images are created on direct Capture IR and Indirect Capture from
exposure to plate discharge.
Digital Cassette-
2. Indirect Capture x- rays are absorbed and converted into light which is
then converted into an electrical signal that can be sent to the computer for
processing
TFT- pixels (del- detector element) del voltage gates that readout
are opened and closed like gates to allow the flow of electrons.
d. ADC signal goes to computer for processing e. After processing the image
is ready to be viewed
Definitions:
Pixel
o Basic picture element on a display; individual matrix boxes
Dynamic Range
o The ability of an imaging system to respond to varying levels of
exposure
Bit
o Single unit of data
Byte
o Made up of 8 bits and is the amount of memory needed to store one
alphanumeric character
Bit Depth
o The number of bits stored per pixels; defines the shades of gray
available for each pixel
Matrix
o A square series of numbered boxes that represent the pixel intensity
and give form to the image
Exposure Latitude
o The range of receptor exposures over which an image and contrast will
be formed as will be formed
Voxel
o Volume or depth (called bit depth Amorphous Selenium (a-Se
Amorphous Silicon (a-Si:H) photodetector
Gadolinium (indirect conversion)
o Or Thalium doped cesium iodide Absorbs x rays and produces light
Scintilation layer Structured or Unstructured
o Structured: Unstructured layer; produce more scattered light,
decreasing efficiency of the detector
