Characteristics

The SIP is aligned with several local initiatives and requirements, and includes a list of the
members of the School Improvement Team.

Hillandales mission, vision, and core values are included in the SIP, and drive the goals for the
plan.

Notably, our school has moved this past year from a C to a B, on our School Report Card
and has worked hard to meet our annual measurable objectives (AMOs).

Critical Elements

This year, our school has re-written its mission and vision to more accurately reflect the heart
and direction behind our goals at Hillandale Elementary.

The goals are as follows:

Goal 1: All students at Hillandale will meet their AMO, exceed expected growth, and our school
performance grade will be a B or better.

Goal 2: Hillandale will provide a safe, orderly and nurturing learning environment by
improving communication and relationships with parents. More than 90% of parents will agree
that teachers communicate effectively about student progress and advocate for students on the
locally administered stakeholder survey.
The two critical elements from these goals could be summarized as: (1) Individual and
Community Growth, and (2) Effective Communication.

Implications (how will the SIP impact your plans for ST)

Your potential contributions to the SIP must be specific, as you will reference this throughout
your student teaching experience.

1. Parent involvement and communication is key. I will design my class website with two-way
communication, document and respond to all parent notes, and call home for happy calls
not just calls concerning behavior issues.

2. Every childs growth matters. I am resolved to work with my students in small groups and one-
on-one situations as frequently as possible to ensure a solid foundation of individual growth.
