Award is give to people who volunteer and make a difference in their community. I
was very proud to hand out awards to seven residents of Kanata North the highest
number of recipients in one Ward. Congratulations to Cathy Briggs, Dwight Brown,
Jim Malone, Judi Miller, Kay Dubie, Neil Thomson and Sarah Trant.

MOSQUITO PROGRAM HAS STARTED DGD Environment have begun their work
on the Mosquito Program. If you live near the wetlands you might see workers
spraying BTI (bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) this is bacterium found naturally in
soils. BTI has no health risks to humans, pets or other insects other than the
mosquito. Helicopters were also in the air dropping pellets of the same substance.
The pellets were not dropped near any residential area. We are hoping we will have
a mosquito free summer again this year.
