Multimodal Projects

Multimodal presentations are anything that has a mixture of different

types of literacies. An example of multimodal would be a movie with subtitles

because it has text that you can read, images or videos that you can see,

and language that you can hear. Writers can be called designers and

communicators because they can add different aspects such as music, video,

images, or language in their writing. Being a writer does not always mean

writing words on a piece of paper, it means portraying ideas through various

means of art, such as images, videos, or language. When we think about the

word text we usually assume the word to be text on an academic paper, or

text as in a novel. The authors definition of text is any kind of artifact or

document that has been composed or designed via human intervention.

Different types of modes:

o Linguistic mode
Refers to the use of language (written or spoken)
Word choice
Delivery
Organization
Coherence (how developed and related)
o Visual mode:
Use of images, and other visual things (art, tv, etc)
Color, layout, style, size, perspective.
Social media
o Aural Mode:
Sound
 Music, sound effects, silence, tone, volume,
emphasis, and accent.
o Spatial mode:
Physical arrangement
How things are arranged.
o Gestural mode
Facial expressions
Hand gestures
Body language
Interaction between people
