Motivation /Introduction/Guiding Questions: (ExBook/Song/ Picture, video, puppets)

Begin the lesson by asking the children what Respect, fairness, and teamwork is. After hearing their
responses proceed to the next question which is when do we use respect, fairness, and teamwork.
Then introduce the manners song and have children sing along to it.
Procedure: (Visual Picture - Details and Descriptions of how you will complete this activity)
1. Ask Students when how we can show respect and fairness, and what is teamwork.
2. Sing the manners song with the children so they become familiarized with it.
3. Read the book My brother Charlie and talk about examples in the book that show respect and
fairness.
4. Retain their attention by making this step about their interest, and discuss with them who their
favorite super heroes are.
5. Explain how super heroes show respect, fairness, and teamwork.
6. Explain the next activity which they will be working in groups.
7. Observe and wait for them to follow directions and complete the activity.
8. Examine the final products to see if anyone needs help and to view the finished puzzle.
Closure/Transition: ( Recall Questions--What did the children learn from this activity)
Children learn many things from this activity I spilt it into 4 main stages and each of the stages
played a part in helping them form a better understanding of the topic. In the first stage they
answer questions and sing a catchy song that helps them define Respect and fairness. The
second stage is reading a book and pulling examples out of it. The third is acknowledging their
interests and using creativity to apply the lesson to them. In this case they discussed their
favorite superheroes and how they represent, respect, fairness, and teamwork. The final step is
to work together, communicate, and use their words to complete a puzzle of a super hero
together. They will apply what they have learned throughout the lesson which is taking turns,
listening to each other, using their words and showing respect and fairness. The purpose of each
activity was to transition on to the next with the final objective was to put their knowledge to
the test and follow directions properly.

Evaluation: ( How do you feel the lesson went and would you modify if necessary)
I felt the lesson went great the only thing I would do differently would be use a book that
pertained a little more to respect than the one I choose. I would also get more creative with the
cutouts and make them bigger that way it is easier for children when they are working on
putting it back together in the end. Besides that I felt it went great and I really enjoyed it. Its
definitively one I plan to use again.
