Once, there was an old owl that lived in a forest. She slept in the day and
hunted for food at night.
One sunny day, a grasshopper came along and started singing. The owl
could not sleep because of the noise.
Go away! I am trying to sleep, she said.
I wont. The forest does not belong to you, the grasshopper answered.
The old owl realized that the grasshopper could move very fast. She also
knew that she could not see well in the daytime. So, she would not be able to
catch the grasshopper.
You sing so well, she said. Before you continue singing, please come up
here and taste this drink. The nightingale gave it to me and said that it helped
her to sing beautifully.
The grasshopper was proud that the grasshopper liked his singing. He also
wanted to sing like a nightingale. So, he jumped up to the owl. As soon as he
was near enough, the owl caught him and ate him up.

The Raven and the Fox


Raven was perched upon a limb,
And the fox looked up at him,
For the raven held in his great big beak,
A morsel the fox would go far to seek.
Said the fox, in admiring tone, my word!
Sir Raven, you are a pretty bird,
Such feathers! If you would only sing,
The birds of these woods would call you king.
The raven, who did not see the joke,
Forgot that his voice was just a croak,
He opened his beak, in his foolish pride,
And down fell the morsel the fox had spied.
And now you see,
You should not listen to flattery,
Vanity, Sir is a horrid vice,

some of my classmates helped me when the bullies were teasing me. One of
the bullies pulled at my crutches. The other two girls jeered and laughed at me.

Stop it! Stop bullying her or we will tell our teacher, my friends shouted.
Although the girls stared fiercely at us, we were not afraid. After a few minutes,
they walked away. I thanked my friends and we walked to the canteen
together.

I am glad the day ended well. Im going to tell my parents about the bullies
later this evening.

Laili : Reduce means we use less of something like paper by writing
on both sides.
Benny : To reuse means we use something over many times. We can reuse
glass bottles after cleaning and washing them to store food.
Rajiv : When we recycle, we change the form of a thing to make it into
something new. We recycle waste like orange peels to turn them
into enzymes for washing our dishes and floor.
Teacher : What can you learn from our lesson today?
Nathan : We must take care of our environment by recycling.
Teacher : We cannot stop waste production but we can reduce the
amount we throw away. Think before you throw.
