CHECKLIST FOR SERVOMOTOR SMR A51321 TROUBLESHOOTING.

Date:

Site:

Serial No. SM-00_______. Way valve serial NO: ___________________

Problem occurred while

1) Initial Commissioning 2) Restarting the turbine after a long shutdown

3) Stopped responding suddenly while in operation

4) Others ______________________________________. (Please specify)

Type of Problem:

1) Not responding to manual knob .

2) Not responding to mA input .

3) Erratic behaviour .

4) Oscillations / Hunting .

Follow the below procedure and provide us the feedback as requested.

1. Check if wiring connections are intact and are as per attached drawing

2. Remove DCS cables from terminals 7 and 9 (Input) and 8,11 (Feedback).

3. Measure voltage between 1,3 and 10,15 terminals ________V DC.

4. Switch ON the Control Oil Pump, Working Oil pressure ________bar.

5. Operate the actuator 3-4 times by rotating with manual knob.

Stroke is varied Stroke is not varied

6. Measure feedback (mA) between 8, 11 terminals at 0% _____mA, at 100% _____mA.

7. Measure feedback (mA) between 6, 11 terminals at 0% _____ mA, at 100% _____mA.

8. Measure the stroke length ________mm.

9. Connect an external source at terminals 7, 9. Provide mA feed

4mA,8mA,12mA,16mA,20mA for 4-5 times. Note down the following readings

Measure the feedback at 8, 11 terminals and piston stroke and note it down.

Command Feedback (mA) Stroke Length

4.0 mA

8.0 mA

12.0 mA

16.0 mA

20.0 mA

Avoid the following for proper functioning of the set

1) Never try to open the above shown connector. If found disturbed cannot be repaired due
to internal potentiometer wires are tend to be broken.

2) Dont adjust KPU, KPD potentiometers without consulting Voith Turbo.

3) Dont adjust SF and FM potentiometers.

4) Always ensure that the manual knob is always at the end position (rotated fully anti
clockwise).

5) Ensure the oil supply pressure at the input of the actuator is proper.

6) Return line is properly connected to Tank without any back pressure.

7) Polarity of 24V DC and input mA and output mA is properly terminated. Avoid loose
contacts.

8) Donot rest the Actuator on the balluff body while installation. Dont try to open the balluff
cover while power is ON.

9) Allow sufficient space for cooling of the electronics components while installation.

10) Always switch off 24V DC when you want to operate the actuator by manual knob.

11) When not operating from Governor command , then check with the mA input locally and
ensure that governor output port is OK.
