Professional Dispositions Self-Evaluation

1. What two dispositional areas do you feel very comfortable with and why?
I feel comfortable with the disposition entitled Tact and Judgment, because I am a
naturally empathetic person and I try to see peoples perspectives. I strive to be quick to listen
and slow to speak, however I am not afraid to stand my ground. Furthermore, I always try to
keep an open mind about everything and I realize that respect and kindness are vital elements of
communication. One of my strengths is my relentless positivity, which is why I think I excel in
this particular disposition.
Another disposition I feel confident about is Effective Communicator. After taking a
number of speech classes and interacting with all types of people, I feel comfortable with public
speaking. I have learned the essentials to effective communication and implement them in my
daily interactions with people. I feel comfortable in informal one-on-one interactions, group
interactions, and formal public speaking interactions.

2. What is one dispositional area you want to focus on during your student teaching
semester?
During my semester of student teaching, Id like to focus on the disposition, Initiative
and Dependability. Sometimes I struggle to come up with creative and innovative ideas, which
is not ideal since innovation should be at the heart of what we do as educators. Id like to seek
out mentorship in a master teacher to have a model of effective problem solving, prioritization,
time management, and self-care. My goal is to be a creative teacher who constantly seeks out
ways to improve my teaching practices.
