To produce keyways & slots by Milling Machine

Apparatus:
Milling machine,work
piece like shafts, cutting tool
Procedure:
Keyway slotting:
Key slot milling in two steps.
This operation requires some specific
guidance, in addition to the general
recommendations for milling of straight
surfaces and grooving.

The best accuracy and productivity will

be achieved if the operation employs
an undersized end mill, and is divided into two steps:

First of all hold the work piece in

holding device on the table.
Now adjust the required tool in the
machine and then first produce a
hole in the work piece to required
depth.
Now give the reciprocating motion to
the table produces a slot in the work
piece.
In the case of keyway it is required to clear one end.
After all remove the burr and clean the machine and do
some lubrication.
