Centers 1 & 2

I Have, Who Has?

Players: 3 or more
Directions:
o Mix up/ shuffle all the cards
o Distribute all the cards to each player. That
means that there should be no cards left in
the center.
o Pick one player to start the game. Whoever
starts the game, reads the question on their
card
For example: "Who has the capital of
Texas".
o The player who has the capital of Texas
replies "I have Austin" and continues the
game by reading the question on their card.
o The player that has the capital card gives it
to the player that asked for it.
o The game goes on until all cards are played.
o The player with the most cards wins!

Center 3
Pick-Up States (pick-up sticks)

Players: 2 or more
Directions:
o Mix up/ shuffle all the sticks. The sticks with a
dot mean that it is the state. If you flip it
over, it is its capital.
o Dump out the sticks and take turns naming
the state or capital.
o You can only pull from the top.
o If I pull a capital, I must name the state it is
in.
o If I pull a state, I must name its capital.
o Example: If I pick up Nevada, then I say, The
capital of Nevada is Carson City!
o Whoever says the correct State with the
correct capital first, keeps the stick.
o The player who has the most sticks wins the
game!
Center 4
Word Search

Every person in the group does their own word


search.
Directions:
o Find the capitals of each state.
o You do NOT have to find the state names,
only the capitals!

Center 5
Map Coloring

Every person in the group does your own.


Directions:
o Color each state by the color it says to color.
o Draw a line to match the state to the capital.

Center 6
Sequence: States and Capitals

Players: 2-4
Directions:
o Each card has the name of a capital with its
location shown on the state.
o Players match the state's shape and color on
the card to the same state shape and color on
the board, then place a chip on that space.
o Five chips in a row form a Sequence, which is
the object to winning the game.
Center 7
Matching Game
Players: 1-4
Directions:
o Jumble up the cards.
o Match each State name to its capital.
o To make it more of a challenge, flip all the
cards over and use your memory to match
the cards.
o The player with the most matches wins!
