Abstract
DIGITAL LIBRARIES
Many computers have been in the library and in their working when the
computer and the Internet
used in the library. Digital library is the counter part of traditional
library. A digital library is a
collection of digital documents digital library as an organized and focused
collection of digital documents including text, images, video, audio, with
the methods of access and reterival and for the selection, evaluation,
organizations, maintenance and sharing of documents. By the digital
library students, professionals, researchers, specialists can access the
needed information in a short time without
coming in the library.
Digital library are organizations that provides the resources including the
specialized staff to select, structure offer intellectual access to interpret,
distribute, preserve the integrity of and ensure the persistence over time of
collection of digital work so that they are readily and economically available
for use by a defined community or set of communities ( DLF 2001)

DIGITIZATION IN LIBRARIES
Digitization is the process of converts print sources into digital form where
they can be stored and maintained bt a computer. Also known as imaging or
scanning is the means of converting
Hard-copy, or non digital record, into digital format. Digitization may also be
undertaken by taking digital photographs of the source records, where
appropriate.
A more precise definition is: the storage, maintenance and accessibility of a
digital documents over the long term, usually as a consequence of applying
one or more digital preservation strategies. These strategies may include
technology preservation, technology emulation or data migration.
NEEDS
Digitization is required to preserve of document.
Old unique documents can save by digitization.
Can access full text online database.

Seclection of documents
First of all for digitization, it is planning what types of document should be selected
like rare books, research material, lecture material etc. and this selection is done
according to researcher and users interest.
Technical requirement and implementation
After selecting, there are a number of technical requirements for scanning the
documents. when the document is replaced by a OCR scanning convert into the
image. After this the formatting, encoding, and compression of the data.
Legal issue
At the time of digitization, many legal issues have to face like copy right, IPR,
authenticity, legal deposit.
Budget/ fund
Creating a digital collection requires a lot of fund. Along with this budget is also
required for staff
Training, new equipment, storage medium etc.
Planning of HRM
According to the digital library there should be a trained staff in the library. Staff
educated, experience, new skills, technical skills, so that thay can provide good
services to the user. According to the changing environment staff should also
attend workshop, seminar, conference so that they can develop good skills.
