Learning Target:
o I can listen closely to a speaker and provide them with useful feedback and
questions.
Success Criteria:
o I will listen to each speaker by practicing attending skills and completing a
feedback form using specified guidelines.
Assessments:
o Summative: Listening and feedback skills will be evaluated by observing students
as they watch each other present. They will also be graded on the feedback they
provide for completion, as long as statements are relevant and address the
questions.
Inquiry Questions:
o How does my short story portray coming of age?
o What do good listening skills look like?
o How can I let the speaker know that I am listening?
o What constitutes useful feedback?
Differentiation:
o Students who are uncomfortable sharing their story to the class are allowed to
make other arrangements with me, as long as they have everything turned in on
time.
Materials:
o Presentation handouts
o Final drafts are turned in
o Writing utensils
o Presentation materials, such as notecards if necessary
Procedures:
o 5 Min: Attendance
o 5 Min: Handout feedback forms and remind students of expectations
Students will provide feedback to each other and practice listening skills
o 80 Min: Presentations (3 minutes each)
