Gender Relations Paper Reflection

While writing my gender relations, not only did I use similar writing methods, but I

got to apply information based on the information and research I learned from writing

my other papers. This paper is about single parenthood in both the U.S. and Mexico,

which has a lot to do with gender roles in society. This was a helpful topic because in

UWRT we talk about how gender roles impact what we consider to be the American

identity.

While writing this, I used my methods of writing by reading over it days in

advance before the due date. I remembered not to be repetitive and to do that I had to

ensure I knew enough on the topic before beginning. While writing the fourth major

assignment, I decided to look up both sides of the argument and that really helped me

in this essay as well. I saw single parenthood from the perspective of a single father and

a single mother which expanded my knowledge and made my thesis a lot stronger. The

relation to gender norms was interesting because I have already done a paper on that in

my UWRT class so I know a good amount of information on it. My weakness while

writing this paper was a lack of personal experience for single parenthood in Mexico. I

think doing research on that was interesting because while doing research on single

parenthood in the U.S. I know what that looks like so I can kind of verify if the

information is right or not. However, for Mexico, I found myself overthinking if the
information was correct or valid. Altogether, this was one of my stronger essays and I

got to apply what Ive learned in UWRT in a different class which was good.
