2. Pearl Harbor (1941)


From the point of view of the Japanese.

A total of 2,335 U.S. servicemen were killed and 1,143


were wounded. Sixty-eight civilians were also killed and 35
were wounded.
The Japanese lost 65 men, with an additional soldier being
captured.

3. The Great Depression (1929-1939)


From the point of view of the government.
The average income of the American family dropped by 40
percent from 1929 to 1932. Income fell from $2,300 to $1,500
per year.
The stock market didn't return to pre-depression levels until
1954.
