Comm331 Obituary
Lexi graduated from University of Maryland in 1998 with a bachelors degree in public
relations. Immediately after college, she began working at Weber Shandwick in their
Washington office. She worked diligently with the health care team.
After 2 years at the company, she decided to continue her passion in the culinary realm.
She left Weber Shandwick and moved to New York to be closer to her family. Vinick
received a position at the Scripps Network, which was her dream, in 2001.
She started off as a public relations assistant and worked with numerous different entities
of the company including HGTV, DIY Network and Food Network. After several years of
hard work and commitment, Vinick became the Public Relations Coordinator of Food
Network.
Rachel Gunning, 43, is a current employee at Food Network who worked with Vinick.
I started working at Food Network around the same time as Lexi. I have never seen
someone so devoted and dedicated to her job. Vinick motivated others and herself to
work hard and be the best they could be. It is a pleasure having gotten to know her, said
Gunning.
Vinick began her life in Jacksonville, Fla., when she was born on April 8, 1977 alongside
parents, Daniel and Randa Vinick and sister, Daniela Vinick. Alexandras mother passed
away from breast cancer just four years later.
After the loss of their mother, Daniel Vinick raised Alexandra and her sister on his own in
Suffern, N.Y., where Vinick demonstrated academic achievement. She was consistently in
the top of her class.
Her passion for the culinary world began in high school, when she began to bake for her
fellow classmates. Among these consumers was Vinicks best friend Megan Sepulveda.
I watched as she started making cookies from the pre-made dough to perfecting
homemade macaroons in just months. It was inspiring to watch, said Sepulveda, 40.
Her passion for baking combined with a love for cooking once she got to college. She
was constantly cooking up new recipes for her roommates and family when she had the
chance. Vinick applied this dedication to her interest in public relations and decided to
integrate herself into culinary communications work.
Vinick married husband, Logan Kincaid in 2007. Both chose to reside in an apartment in
the Upper East Side. The couple later had son, Liam in 2009 and daughter, Olivia in
2012.
In addition to her busy work schedule and family life, Vinick was very involved in
several breast cancer organizations in honor of her mother. Every year, she participated
in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in New York, Boston, and Washington.
Vinick was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. Despite her weakness and constant
chemo sessions, Vinick continued to be a strong caring woman who didnt let anything
slow her down. Vinick even participated in 2015s Avon Breast Cancer Crusade.
The sickness took away all of Alexandras physical strength in December 2016. However,
she was a fighter until her last dying breath.
A reception is scheduled at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Ave. at
81st, New York, NY, on Friday April 14, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Alexandras
memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 11:00 a.m.
