Directions

Directions are used when you

want to tell a person how to get
from one location to another. You
will need to know how to study a
map and provide this explanation
This is how you do it.
Step 1
The map
1.Study the map carefully
2. Imagine you are walking along
the road
3. Look out for the names of road.
4. Note what you see along the
way.
Eg: A bridge, a tall red building,
the police station, a river, an old
shophouse, a temple

Step 2
Notes/outline
1. Jot down all the details you
want to put into your writing
Step 3
Useful phrases
There are some useful phrases
that you can use
1. Turn right after the hospital
2. Walk towards the school
3. The restaurant is opposite the
bookshop
4. Drive past the hairdressers
shop
5. At the roundabout, go straight
across
6. Go down Jalan Silang
7. On your right will be the new
housing estate
8. Look out for the shoe shop
which is next to the
supermarket
9. Do not turn. Keep walking
until you reach the T-junction
