Matter

Matter: anything that has mass and takes up space

Element: substances that are made up of one type of atom and can
not be broken down or changed

Atom: tiny particles that matter is made up of

Volume: the amount of space something takes up

Expand: to become larger or make larger

Contract: to decrease in size

Properties: descriptions about something that can be observed (you


can see, hear, touch, or smell)

Boiling Point: the temperature at which a substance changes from a


liquid to a gas

Melting Point: the temperature at which a substances changes from


a solid to a liquid

Freezing Point: the temperature at which a substance changes from


a liquid to a solid

Condensing: to make something more dense or more concentrated

Solubility: a substances ability to dissolve
